Farm lies in the heart of whisky making country in scenic Glenlivet. Farmed under the title of D & R Durno & Sons we run 170 suckler cows. The cows are mainly Simmental crosses but there are also Limousin, Aberdeen Angus, Belgian Blue and Charolais cross cows as well. We also have small pedigree herds of Charolais, Limousin and more recently Simmental. The cows are served by DIY AI or by one of the stock bulls to produce store calves to sell at around a year old. Calves are mostly sold at Thainstone, with a good number going to top showmen for summer and christmas showing. Calves from Auchorachan have won championships at all our local shows and at national events such as the Aberdeen Christmas Classic, Scottish Winter Fair, Smithfield and have 3 times been commercial cattle champion at the Royal Highland Show. I have been selling semen since October 2003 from selected bulls from a large AI stud in Ireland called Progressive Genetics. I am operating as an agent and not as an employee, so any advice given by me will be my honest independent opinion. |
